The end of the school year is in sight but it is still essential that all our children get to school every day. As our teachers bring the year’s learning to a conclusion, the final three weeks of term are packed with educational visits, our Sports’ Day, end of year performances, Share the Learning Assemblies and outdoor learning opportunities. Late arrivals miss the start of the school day and this can make it very difficult for a child to get fully involved in his or her learning. A child who is persistently late by only 5 minutes a day will miss 3 whole days during the course of a school year! We all know that good school attendance gives children the opportunity of success and helps them to develop skills for life, so we expect all our children to attend school every day, unless there is an unavoidable cause such as illness.
As you are aware, holiday during term time cannot be authorised and extended absence will result in a Fixed Penalty Notice from the Education Investigation Service. Four Fixed Penalty Notices have been issued to Greenfield families so far this term, resulting in a fine of £60 for each parent. We hope there won’t be any more.
