Good to be Back

We are really pleased that our Year 6 children have returned safely from an exciting outdoor adventure residential at Boreatton Park, PGL’s flagship centre in Shropshire. After the excitement of two nights away with their classmates and an action-packed schedule of raft building, tunnel trails, giant swing, rifle shooting, abseiling and zip wire, I am sure they will be ready for a weekend at home. Many thanks to our brilliant team of Miss Cook, Miss Tang, Mrs Remmers and Mrs Taylor for accompanying the children on this memorable educational experience. Our PGL Group Leader, Dawn, who had worked at the site for 5 years, commented that our children were one of the best groups she had worked with. I was fortunate to be able to be with the group and must commend all our children for their superb behaviour, enthusiastic participation and real courage in the face of challenge.

‘This week we have had an amazing experience at PGL! Going on an outdoor adventure residential has helped us all learn how to look after ourselves for two nights on the run. We have also learned many teamwork skills and building skills; for example, when making rafts we all had to work together to master the technique of tying ropes to make the raft strong. Many of us also had to conquer our nerves and face our fear of heights. Our teachers and the PGL staff helped us to be courageous and challenge ourselves to do everything to the best of our ability. We have not only learnt things about ourselves but also about others. Some people, who we didn’t expect to, built up the courage to complete everything. It was great to see our friends overcoming their fears and then seeing the satisfaction on their faces at the end of the abseiling, the zip wire and the giant swing. Overall, PGL taught us a lot and we’re sure it will be an experience, which we shall never forget!’  Jack Ciasullo, Ruby Pritchard, Will Holloway and Molly Carroll-Grigg (our Head/Deputy Boy/Girl Team)
