We are sorry today to see the departure of Mrs Helen Blakemore as she looks to explore the distant shores of the South West. Greenfield has been part of Helen’s life for many years, since she first started as a pupil at the original Hill Street School. Her Mum helped out in school by playing the piano for assemblies, pantomimes and productions, before volunteering as a helper and eventually being appointed as the School Secretary. Some of you will no doubt fondly remember the friendly face of the talented Mrs Joan Oakley.
When she grew up and settled down with her husband, Alan, Helen went on to be a parent of our school when her 5 children, Joseph, Adam, Luke, Thomas and Eve, came here as pupils. She later became a community governor, a member of the Home School Association (now known as the Friends of Greenfield) and a volunteer. Helen has also worked at Greenfield as a classroom assistant and most recently as Manager of our successful Good Morning and Good Afternoon Club.
We are very grateful to Helen for all her invaluable work and the considerable contribution she has made to life and learning at our school. I am sure Helen will always hold a special place in the hearts of our children and families. I know you will join me in thanking Helen for her energy, humour and commitment throughout her time at Greenfield and wish her all the very best for a happy and healthy future.
