At Greenfield we value not only reading but the love of books and the celebration of stories, so we are delighted to announce that we have been awarded second prize of £3,000 of beautiful new books for our entry to the national World Book Day Award! Our children and staff team worked brilliantly together with artist Ruth Turnbull to create the ‘Head Full of Books’ display in our foyer. The work was inspired by their reading and the experience of meeting and working with real-life authors and poets, who have visited our school. The addition of £3,000 of beautiful new books to our school and class libraries will further develop our children’s pleasure in reading, improve their general knowledge and lead to an even better understanding of other cultures, people and places.
We have 60 children on our Year 3 and Year 4 residential to wildest Derbyshire this week, so our Greenfield World Book Day will take place next week on Thursday 9 March. Don’t forget to dress to impress!
