Our Open Sessions have been a successful and productive means of engaging parents in your children’s learning since 2011. They have become so popular that we can hardly fit you all into the limited space in our classrooms.
In order to allow parents to have a more meaningful and worthwhile experience of your child(ren)’s learning, we are going to run more sessions for smaller groups of parents. This has already happened for the Phonics Open Sessions in Reception this week and the response from parents has been excellent. The reduction in numbers has enabled parents to have a clearer view of the learning, a better understanding of the lesson’s objectives and more ideas for supporting your child at home.
Our Writing Open Sessions for Year 2 take place next week and for Year 3 the following week. Your child’s teacher will explain the aims of the lesson and what we expect from you before the session, while there will be the opportunity after the lesson to discuss the learning. We hope that these Open Sessions will really help parents to understand how the key skills of writing are taught at Greenfield. To ensure that the learning atmosphere in class is as calm as it usually is, we would ask that only one adult attends for each child and that babies and toddlers remain at home. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
