At Greenfield, we are committed to safeguarding children and promoting children’s welfare. Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm, safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from discrimination or harassment, so that we are all able to feel safe in our environment.

We expect all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment and maintain a vigilant and safe environment. Everyone has a responsibility to act without delay to protect children by reporting anything that might suggest a child is being abused or neglected. It is our willingness to work safely and challenge inappropriate behaviours that underpins this commitment. We aim to work in partnership with families and other agencies to improve the outcomes for children, who are vulnerable or in need.

We listen to our pupils and take their thoughts and feelings seriously. All our staff are trained in Child Protection, and children are aware of the adults they can talk to, if they have any concerns. Our staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect and are required to report these to our Designated Safeguarding Lead. The procedures we follow have been laid down by the Dudley Safeguarding Children’s Board and our Child Protection Policy follows this guidance. On rare occasions, our concerns for a child may mean that we have to consult other agencies. We ensure that all concerns are discussed with parent/carers first, before any referrals are made, unless we believe that such a move may be contrary to a child’s welfare. If you have any concerns about a child, please do not hesitate to contact me or Mrs Remmers.
