We are delighted and fortunate to have been able to enjoy such perfect weather for yesterday’s Sports’ Day. It was wonderful to see our parents and families turning out in such great numbers for both our morning and afternoon events. Some of you were well prepared for a sporting picnic complete with blankets, chairs and drinks, but many of you also made the most of the chance to have a tea, coffee and ice-cream, courtesy of our wonderful Friends of Greenfield.
We were all really pleased to be able to use the facilities at Oldswinford Hospital School for the second time. The track on the top field provided the perfect venue in such an idyllic setting. We would like to thank Mr Paul Kilbride, Headteacher, for the invitation and appreciate the warm welcome given to us by Mr Andrew Coalter and his fabulous team, including Lee Meneer and Ian Sherwin, who helped the day run so smoothly.
We have received so many compliments and positive feedback from our families. These are summed in the kind words of Pat and Paul Beard, grandparents of Amelia in Year 1 and Lowenna in Year 4: ‘We retired bystanders thoroughly enjoyed Greenfield’s Sports’ Day yesterday. It was great to witness all the pupils giving of their best, cheered on by their house-mates! Of particular note, which reflects so well on the school, was the meticulous observation of the silence in remembrance of the victims of the arena bomb attack in Manchester. Many thanks!’
I am sure you will agree that our children excelled themselves in the true spirit of healthy competition. Congratulations to our Year 6 pupils and Year 5 candidates, who worked together so efficiently to run the individual events, organise the equipment and tally the scores.
